2Face, real name Innocent Ujah Idibia, burst into the international limelight in 2004, with global anthem ‘African Queen’. With YouTube views for the song nearing the 2 million mark, the gushy ballad, which made the soundtrack for Hollywood comedy Phat Girlz, was taken from 2Face’s debut album ‘Face to Face’, catapulting him to the very forefront of modern Afro-pop musicians.

In 2005, 2Face became the first African musician to win an MTV Europe music award in the newly created category, before going on to scoop the ‘Best African Act’ award at 12th annual MOBO Awards in 2007 and being bestowed the honour of performing at the FIFA 2010 World Cup Closing ceremony.

A true maverick, 2Face is hailed for his knack for modernising the African ‘Hiplife’ music genre and coupling it with soulful finesse. A heralded artiste across continents, 2Face has gone on to release 3 multi-platinum selling albums including ‘Grass 2 Grace’ and ‘The Unstoppable’, while churning collaborative hits with the likes of Wyclef Jean and Kelly Rowland, and has this year been crowned Best International Act at the 2011 BET Awards.

Born in Jos, in Northern Nigeria, 2Face studied at the prestigious Institute of Management and Technology, before leaving University early to pursue his musical passions. His first break came as part of dynamic 3-piece group The Plantashun Boyz. With three albums under their belt and legion of young fans, the group parted in order to follow solo careers, paving the way for 2Face’s astounding success. visit 02uk
